Best Places to Visit on Your Pembrokeshire Holidays

July 28th, 2011

South Wales/Pembrokeshire is one of the most sought after regions of the United Kingdom when it comes to holiday making. The relatively uncrowded beaches, part of Britain’s only true National Coast Park, and the glorious historical locations, make South Wales an ideal place to be. So why not buy a caravan and really make the most of it? When you own static caravans in South Wales you can really start to explore – and here are some tips to get you started:

Start with the wonderful Caldey Island, which contains both a fully working monastery and a genuine Holy Island village where monks still bring and sell their home grown produce. Spend the afternoon wandering around the island and take the boat back to Tenby in time for fish and chips.caravan camps north wales

No visit to South Wales/Pembrokeshire is complete without taking a trip to Lamphey Bishops Palace, which has been sensitively renovated to evoke the original atmosphere of the Abbey of St Davids. The Lamphey Bishops Palace and the Abbey host summer events, programmes of which are available from the Abbey or from tourist offices.

Buy a caravan in South Wales and you could enjoy the out of season events too. Visit the Torch Theatre and the Rhos Y Gilwen Concert Hall for a riveting programme of entertainment and culture all throughout the year.caravan camps Rhyl

Owning caravans in South Wales also gets you out of having to book, of course, meaning that you can stay in your holiday home at any time. Take advantage of its ready availability to do the things the locals do as well as the more touristic attractions. Got the yen for some action, for example? Try out the Ritec Valley Quad Bikes experience, you’ll love it.

South Wales/Pembrokeshire does castles like nowhere else. You’ll find some wonderful examples of fully renovated historic castles in the immediate area of Tenby – including Carew Castle, which has a history more than 2000 years long. Carew Castle overlooks a 23 acre millpond and is one of the finest examples of a Norman fortification. Don’t miss Manorbier Castle either, which overlooks one of Wales’ most beautiful beaches.

When you choose to buy a caravan in the Pembrokeshire area you also get access to some incredible wildlife and nature reserves. The National Wetland Centre, which covers 500 acres, is home to an impressive array of waders and wildfowl. Ornithologists and people who just love a good walk will be enraptured.caravan holidays rhyl

South Wales/Pembrokeshire even offers a Nordic Walking Workshop, which gives you the chance to learn how to Nordic Walk (poles supplied). Don’t know how? Don’t even know what Nordic Walking is? Come along and you’ll find out (clue – it’ll keep you fit and it’s a bit like skiing…).

South Wales is one of the most rewarding places in the country to buy a caravan. Owning caravans anywhere gives you plenty of bonuses, of course, but to have a family holiday home in the midst of such history and splendour is that little bit extra special.
