Hawaii Flights

June 26th, 2011

If you plan to make Hawaii flights during the month of September 2011, it looks like the prices for Hawaii airfare is in the mid $400 to high $400 range.  So September seems like to pretty good time to book your flights to Hawaii

But besides the rates for Hawaii flights, what about the hotel rates in Hawaii?  Checking the online rates, it seems like many of the smaller local hotels and hotel chains are offering rates in low $80 to low $100 a day rate for a stay in Waikiki.  So September also looks like a good time to make a Hawaii hotel booking, in addition to making reservations for Hawaii flights.

At this point, there does not appear to be any appreciable change for the price of Hawaii interisland flights during the month of September 2011.

The persistent problem, which won’t see any headway for the foreseeable future, is the price of renting cars in Hawaii.  Rental car surcharges have gone up and now they can easily add a third to your overall costs of renting a car in Hawaii.  Frankly, in my opinion, Hawaii must have some of the highest surcharges in the nation for renting a car, if not the highest.  It’s outrageous that car rentals in Hawaii are so high and the part that makes it so expensive almost nothing to do with the actual cost of renting a car.

This has been a recurring problem in Hawaii.  Whenever tax revenues are down, the first inclination is to have the tourists pay for the shortfall.  What some in Hawaii persistently fail to realize that Hawaii is slowly; but surely pricing itself out of the market as a sun and fun destination product.
