Why Visit Berlin in 2012
November 27th, 2011
Berlin has always been a tourist hotspot in Europe but 2012 holds even more in store. Although Berlin has been hit by the recession like many other European cities, the city has persevered and come out stronger on the other side. The city is a great spot for families and couples alike and can act as a relaxing retreat or a vibrant spot for a group vacation.
Berlin’s shopping district is home to countless stores and all designer brands. In 2012, many more are set to open and the cosmopolitan hub is thriving. After your shopping spree, why not try an ‘Alternative Tour’ of Berlin. It shows the city in a really interesting light. Several types of tours are available. A wonderful free tour is given most days and a great tour of Berlin’s street art is also available. The street art of Berlin is constantly evolving and becoming increasingly popular so by next year a whole new gallery will be created.
The world renowned Berlin Film festival will be held next year. During the 2nd and 3rd week of February the Berlinale Festival will be in full swing. As well as being a hub for contacts and work relations for aspiring and well known film makers and producers, the festival offers much for those visiting the area. Hundreds of films are shown and the area becomes a gorgeous spectacle to behold. So for something a little different, try Berlinale next year.
Another great event to try to snag a seat at is the BMW Berlin Marathon, especially for all the car buffs out there. Generally held in September, 2012 will be the 39th of these races to have been staged in Berlin. The race itself is part of the World Marathon Majors series held every year. So whether you would consider entering yourself or watching some adrenaline inducing racing just have a look on the website and get ready for next year.
Berlin of course has top class accommodation and amazing dining on top of all of these activities. So next year, book a week or two in Berlin. You won’t regret it!
